PITLOCHRY TO KILLIECRANKIE

Overview

Dualling the 4-mile (6.4 km) Pitlochry to Killiecrankie project includes two new junctions at Pitlochry; upgrading bridges at the River Tummel and Loch Faskally; two new major structures at Tummel and Clunie; and improving footpaths like the Rob Roy Way where it crosses the A9.

The estimated total scheme cost for this project is £296m at April 2023 prices.

The sites at both River Tummel and the man-made Loch Faskally are designated Special Areas of Conservation (SAC). The A9 at this location is also within a constrained corridor close to the Highland Main Line Railway.

Details of the design and planning stage, including environmental mitigation measures, and relevant documentation such as made orders and environmental statements can be viewed on Transport Scotland’s website.
