KILLIECRANKIE TO GLEN GARRY

Dualling the 13.8 mile (22.0 km) Killiecrankie to Glen Garry project includes new grade-separated junctions at Aldclune and Bruar/Calvine, two new bridges over the River Garry, and improvements to footways and cycleways.

The estimated total scheme cost for this project is £591m at April 2023 prices.

The A9 at this location runs through the Killiecrankie Battlefield. Surveys of the battlefield undertaken in 2015 and 2018 informed the planning phase of the project and will support conservation of this important historical site during construction.

Significant finds from the surveys included musket, carbine and pistol balls, along with a copper alloy pendant, a harness boss, two buckles, part of a sword belt, horseshoes and buttons.

Details of the design and planning stage, including environmental mitigation measures, and relevant documentation such as made orders and environmental statements can be viewed on Transport Scotland’s website.
